Giving 5 stars for their free drink. ordered the duck and mushroom soup, pan fried buns, and their combo D which included wonton soup and noodles with peanut sauce duck and mushroom soup was the worst thing we ordered. $10 for a tiny pot the height of a toilet paper roll, but narrower and with thick walls. would recommend to those who like stringy and still half dried mushrooms. the pan fried buns were good, though they were on the oilier side. very fragrant, and tasted delicious with their vinegar. the wonton soup was the best out of everything ordered and tasted quite delicious, but the wontons themselves were low quality—they were small, which is fine, but the filling tasted like fish balls and not actual meat. the noodles were a bit disappointing. they were soggy and the sauce was probably something you could make at home with peanut butter, soy sauce, and sesame oil. their menu says that the pictures are for reference only, and that's very true. the noodles looked completely different from the picture on their menu, whether it was portion size, color, or even noodle shape. they had complimentary side dishes and the spicy tofu skin was great. nobody told us they were avai

Really good spot for authentic Chinese food. Everything tasted fresh and flavorful, especially the dumplings and peanut noodles. The black salted egg yolk buns were super unique and delicious. Friendly staff and cozy atmosphere

Checked out Taste of Shaxian in San Mateo on a Sunday night and honestly was shocked there was no wait. You just scan the QR code to order from your phone which I love cuz its super efficient and you dont have to wait for someone to come over. The food came out pretty quick too, like maybe 5-10 mins after we ordered. Portions are huge. I got the crab roe noodles and the braised beef shank with rice. To be real the crab roe noodles were pretty mid and lacked flavor, but the beef rice was delicious!! It had braised beef, egg, tofu skin, corn and some veggies. The sauce they use for the beef makes the rice so tasty, I mixed the crab roe sauce into the beef rice and literally the rice was 10 times more delicious. I feel like the crab roe rice would be way better than the noodles I ordered. Overall, definitely a good spot for a quick filling meal.

The dumplings were the highlight: thin wrappers, juicy filling, and perfectly balanced seasoning. The crispy skirt dumplings had an excellent contrast—deeply browned, lacy crisp on the bottom with tender dumplings on top. Texture and execution were on point. The soups were rich and layered. The spicy noodle soup had real depth, not just heat, with a savory broth and generous toppings. The peanut-sauce wontons were smooth, nutty, and well-balanced—comforting without being heavy. Portions were satisfying, presentation was clean, and everything came out hot and fresh. Service was efficient, and the space felt casual but well-run.

I was feeling like dumplings today so I jumped on Yelp and this restaurant popped up with good ratings. The business in the space it’s located in seems to change every few years (Rubios/ Shabu/ Blockbuster to name a few). The restaurant is clean, bright and cutely decorated. Ordering is via a QR code and easy. I loved the membership discounts on certain items. The staff is super friendly and the music was jammin’. My 10 year old and I ordered way too much but I have to say, EVERYTHING was really good! The dishes comes out piping hot, and that’s probably the best time to eat them. The dumpling skins were tender and the fillings were well flavored, pleasantly textured and very well balanced. Sauces like Sot Sauce, Vinegar, Hengcheng vinegar (for XLB) and Lajiao hot paste were all on the table, so there’s no stress about asking for more. Overall, it was a great first experience here and I have no idea why this place isn’t packed. Looks like they can accommodate big groups so I’ll be recommending this place to my kids’ basketball team for a post game meal. We will definitely return, and often.
